Nancy Burns, A Staten Island native who loved to travel and spend time with her family, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024. Being born in Port Richmond in 1935, Nancy’s life was marked by deep connections with her family and her career. Nancy embarked on her career in 1967 with Frank B. Sterner Insurance Company on Staten Island before commuting via the S.I. Ferry to Manhattan, working for Chase Bank. Concluding her career, she worked as an Office Manager at Solomon Brothers until 1997. Nancy had a friendship with a local vendor and she became well-known for her parties where she would buy a case of Sabrett hot dogs from him to serve to guests on St. Anthony’s Day in June. In 2002, Nancy and her husband Bill relocated to Jackson, NJ, where she actively participated in the Westlake community and won the Bacci tournament in 2007. She cherished annual trips to Bermuda with Bill and explored destinations like Italy and London. Nancy enjoyed Atlantic City, Broadway plays, Kindle reading, and, above all, spending time with her family. Nancy, renowned for her lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, and spinach balls, leaves a void that will be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. For the full obituary, click here.
Madeline Marchetti, 94, passed peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Clove Lakes Healthcare & Rehab Center, where she has resided for the last 1.5 years. Born in May 1929 in Brooklyn, Madeline spent the majority of her life there until her retirement. Following a successful career as a Secretary for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, she relocated to Franklin Square in Long Island and later to Florida, only to return to Staten Island in 2005.
