‘Staten Island’s Doctor,’ a family physician who treated 4 generations, dies at 96

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Beloved family physician Dr. Louis Gilbert Gianvito, who served four generations of fellow Staten Islanders and worked tirelessly as a public servant, died at home on Monday, Jan. 7 after a brief time in hospice. He was 96.
