Workers at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum are scheduled to vote Jan. 25 on whether to unionize, according to the National Labor Relations Board.
If successful, AKG Workers United would represent 71 employees in visitor experience, facilities, and food and beverage. Organizers went public with their organizing campaign in November, and on Jan. 3 filed a petition for an election with the NLRB.
AKG Workers United has filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to hold an election. The bargaining unit would represent about 75 employees in visitor experience, food and beverage and facilities.
โI am hopeful that we will win the election, and that the win in our departments inspires other departments across the museum to organize and join our unit,โ Jasper Beckstein, a visitor experience shift lead, said in a statement. โWe are all still โTeam AKG,โ and we are all working hard every day to make the Buffalo AKG the most welcoming, inspiring and transformative museum for our community and the world.โ
