One of America’s favorite candies has bit the dust.
Ferrara Candy Company has discontinued the popular Fruit Stripe Gum as of Jan. 10, according to CNN.
However, those looking to cash in on a nostalgic piece of candy history are selling the fruit-flavored gum on eBay for up to $189.
There are currently two listings of Fruit Stripe Gum on eBay: a 12-pack for $100 and an open set of 11 packs for $189.
Those unwilling to throw down that much cash on candy can try looking at their local grocery or convenience store for the final packs. A Ferrara representative told CNN that you may be able to find some in the candy or checkout aisle of select retailers nationwide.
Unfortunately, fans of the iconic gum from many of our childhoods will find that a quick search on Amazon, Walmart, Target and other grocery stores comes up short.
Ferrara called ending production of Fruit Stripe Gum “a difficult decision.”
“The decision to sunset this product was not taken lightly,” a Ferrara representative told CNN. “We considered many factors before coming to this decision, including consumer preferences, and purchasing patterns – and overall brand trends for Fruit Stripe Gum.”
Fruit Stripe Gum hit shelves for the first time in 1969. James Parker invented the classic candy, while the Beech-Nut company originally sold it, according to TODAY.com.
Each colorful, zebra-print pack came with the flavors, Wet n’ Wild Melon, Cherry, Lemon, Orange and Peach and a temporary tattoo of mascot Yipes the Zebra.
The discontinued gum’s current owner, Ferrara, is also known for selling other popular candy, including Brach’s, Lemonhead, Bottle Caps, Runts, Pixy Stix, Fun Dip, Nerds, Trolli and Gobstoppers.
