NYPD seeks group in connection to Manhattan robbery pattern; $13K swiped from newsstands, food truck

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying multiple individuals sought for questioning in connection to a citywide robbery pattern that has netted over $13,000 worth of cash in just over two weeks and targeted NYC newsstands, a food truck and a concession stand in Manhattan.

On Jan. 1, police said a 70-year-old male victim working at a newsstand located in front of 1717 Broadway, was approached by three unknown individuals. The assailants pushed him to the ground and forcibly removed $750 from his person before fleeing on foot, traveling northbound on Broadway at approximately 7:10 p.m.

The next day at 4:25 p.m., the group, police say, approached a 27-year-old female working at a newsstand in front of 936 Third Avenue and forcibly removed her cellphone after pushing her to the ground.

The suspects also took $5,000 from a concession stand at Broadway and West 54th Street, $3,200 from a newsstand near Rector Street and Trinity Place, $2,800 from a newsstand on Church Street, and $3,200 from another newsstand near Rector Street and Trinity Place, according to the NYPD.

The crew continued to commit similar crimes and assaults until the latest on Jan. 11, when it was reported to police at approximately 7:10 p.m. a 31-year-old male working at a newsstand in front of 1410 Broadway, was assaulted and robbed of $3,000 cash by the assailants. All three individuals fled on foot, traveling northbound on Broadway. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention, according to police.

The suspects fled after each incident and remained at large, as of Sunday, police said.

The first individual sought in connection to the nine incidents of theft throughout Manhattan is described as a male with light complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket and black sneakers.
