WHITE PLAINS – Colorado resident Matthew Mills, a registered sex offender since 2020, is going to prison for the crime of enticement of an 11-year-old who resides in Orange County. Mills is on the sex offender list in Colorado after pleading guilty in 2020 to felony sexual exploitation of a child. He was required to register and sentenced to eight years of probation.
Shortly after the Colorado conviction, according to the US Attorney’s Office, Mills began exchanging texts with an 11-year-old and asked the victim to send sexually explicit photos to him via text. Mills was in Colorado and the victim was in New York.
Mills entered a guilty plea to the federal charge in September and was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week by US District Court Judge Nelson Roman.
US Attorney Damian Williams credited the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Denver, Colorado police department for assisting with the investigation.
