STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Civil Service (DCS) has released its January application schedule for New York’s entry-level civil service exams.
The open-competitive exams are an opportunity to start a career with New York state. These tests are open to anyone who meets the qualifications listed on the examination announcement.
The application period opened for the following exams: addictions program specialist 1; addictions program specialist 2; addictions program specialist 2 (gambling); aging services representative; aging services representative (Spanish language); computer operator trainee; identification examiner 2; long-term care systems specialist 1; long-term care systems specialist 1 (health); long-term care systems specialist 2; long-term care systems specialist 2 (health); long-term care systems specialist 3; long-term care systems specialist 3 (health); mental health program specialist 2; mental health program specialist 2 (clinical); mental health program specialist 2 (DOCCS); ocean & lakes policy analyst 1; park manager 1; park manager 2; park manager 3; park supervisor 1; park supervisor 2; senior computer operator; supervising janitor; vocational rehabilitation counselor trainee 1; vocational rehabilitation counselor trainee 1 (manual communications); and vocational rehabilitation counselor trainee 1 (Spanish language).
Applications are open until either Jan. 17 or Feb. 7 so be sure to check deadlines if you’re interested in a career.
Visit www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncements/types/oc to apply for exams. Application fees are waived for this month.
Some careers offer an additional annual downstate adjustment if they work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland or Westchester counties.
