POUGHKEEPSIE – An inmate at the Dutchess County Jail has been arrested on a weapons charge. Fifty-four-year-old Joseph Boccard, a Poughkeepsie resident, was arrested by law enforcement after an investigation by members of both the law enforcement and corrections divisions of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office on January 12, 2024.
Boccard, who is still in custody at the jail, is now accused of possessing contraband in the form of an edged weapon. He was charged with the felony of promoting prison contraband, according to Sheriff’s Captain John Watterson.
Boccard is due to be arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court for the new charge on January 25. He remains in the Dutchess County Jail where he has been imprisoned since March 2023.
