Police officers shot an allegedly erratic man in the Bronx Sunday morning, authorities said.
Although the situation is still developing, police sources close to the investigation told amNewYork Metro that the incident occurred just before 10 a.m. outside of 2685 Grand Concourse.
Sources say police shot an “emotionally disturbed person” who was brandishing a knife, but were unable to confirm how many shots were fired or divulge any information pertaining to what exactly led to the shooting.
At this time, the man is in critical condition and authorities are asking the public to avoid the area to make room for heavy police presence.
This is the second police-involved shooting in the Bronx — and on Grand Concourse — in less than two months. On Feb. 5, NYPD officers shot at a man who allegedly turned his firearm on police after a reported assault near E. 153rd St and Grand Concourse.
