The top-ranked Hobart College hockey team cruised to a 9-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. Sophomore forwardย Ignat Belovย scored a pair of goals as the Statesmen improved to 16-2-1 overall this season with a 10-1-1 mark in NEHC play.
Senior forwardย Jonah Alexanderย led the Statesmen with four points on a goal and three assists. A total of nine Statesmen finished with multi-point games. Sophomoreย Mavrick Goyerย started in goal. He made 18 saves as he picked up his sixth win of the season.
Kyle Penton started in goal for the Huskies (5-10-3, 2-7-2). He made 63 saves in just under 56 minutes of work. Jacob Kindestin made one save in the final four minutes of the game. ย
STREAKING
- Hobart has now won 30 straight games at The Cooler. It is the longest active streak and the second longest in NCAA Division III history.
- For the 19th straight game, the Statesmen did not allow a power-play goal. Hobart has killed off all 56 of its opponentsโ power-play opportunities so far this season.
- The Statesmen are unbeaten in their last 13 games. It is tied for the second-longest streak in program history.
