STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Three individuals were arrested after a fleeing a traffic stop early Sunday morning, police said.
According to police, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers attempted to conduct a lawful stop of vehicle at Richmond Road and Narrows Road North in Concord, after spotting a 2022 Hyundai Tucson missing its front license plate.
As police attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped off, initiating a pursuit, a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information said.
The vehicle eventually crashed and all three individuals, a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old Tashawn Rice of St. George, were taken into custody without incident, the spokesman said.
The NYPD does not release names of minors.
The vehicle had been reported stolen sometime last year, police said.
An investigation remains ongoing, police said.
