Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has filed a lawsuit against state Attorney General Letitia James. The suit, lodged in New York state court on Thursday, aims to obtain witness statements from the sexual misconduct investigation that led to Cuomoโs resignation in 2021. Cuomo asserts that these records are crucial for his defense in two sexual harassment lawsuits related to the investigation.

The lawsuit follows a federal judgeโs decision last year not to release similar records in a separate case brought by Cuomo. The former governor, who stepped down after an attorney generalโs report concluded he sexually harassed at least 11 women, has consistently denied the allegations. He and his supporters have accused James and the investigation of being biased.
Cuomoโs spokesperson, Rich Azzopardi, criticized James for allegedly withholding documents and conducting what he described as a politically motivated investigation. The response from Jamesโs office to the lawsuit was not immediately available.
