Long-awaited Staten Island elevation project expected to alleviate area flooding to begin this year

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Construction on a crucial infrastructure project to improve conditions along an oft-flooded portion of Travis Avenue is expected to begin this spring, five years later than initially anticipated.

The Travis Avenue elevation project, which will raise a 970-foot section of Travis Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Mulberry Avenue, aims to provide the area with much-needed flooding relief.
