A subway train fatally struck a man at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park station on Tuesday morning, according to police, causing extensive disruptions to the B and Q lines in the hours following the morning commuter rush.
Police have not publicly identified the man, who was in his 50s. Authorities found him on the tracks of the Prospect Park station shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and pronounced him dead at the scene.
It’s unclear how the man fell onto the tracks and an MTA spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment on how the fall transpired. Police said they do not suspect criminality but added that their investigation is ongoing.
B and Q trains were delayed in both directions, but normal service had resumed by Tuesday afternoon.
The man was the second person this week who was reported to have been fatally struck by a New York City subway train.
Another man was hit by a train at Union Square during the morning commuter rush on Monday after he allegedly jumped in front of a Brooklyn-bound Q train. Police have still not identified him.
