Rochester fentanyl dealer sentenced to 10 years in prison

Ebony Shine, a 37-year-old resident of Rochester, New York, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for her role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa imposed the sentence following Shine’s conviction for conspiracy to possess and distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing, marking a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.

During a federal operation on November 15, 2022, law enforcement agencies executed search warrants at Shine’s Post Avenue residence and other locations. The search led to the recovery of over $4,500, firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia. Shine’s criminal activities, which spanned from October 2021 to November 2022, involved selling significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine in Medina and Rochester, as well as distributing firearms.

The sentencing is a result of a collaborative effort by various law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and local police departments. The case forms part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations that pose a threat to national security. Ebony Shine’s sentencing underscores the ongoing efforts to combat the opioid crisis and drug-related crimes in the United States.
