ALBANY – The state has allocated funds to reduce the negative impacts of invasive species to New York’s natural resources, economy, and communities.
The money comes from the State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Invasive Species Grant Program, which provides funding for aquatic and terrestrial invasive species spread prevention, early detection and rapid response, lake management planning, research, and education and outreach.
The Town of Ancram will receive over $12,600 for invasive species education and outreach.
The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development will receive $29,000 for invasive species education and outreach.
Bard College will receive over $80,000 for invasive species early education/rapid response and control terrestrial and aquatic species.
The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference will receive two grants totaling $184,000 for invasive species education and outreach, and rapid response and control terrestrial and aquatic species.
The Town of Chester received over $12,000, the Town of Clarkstown received $67,500, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County received over $71,000, Mohonk Preserve received $90,000 and Research Foundation for SUNY Purchase received over $99,000, all for similar purposes.
