Central NY man charged with child porn possession, faces 10 felony charges

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Madison County man faces 10 felony charges after a search found child pornography in his possession, troopers said Friday.

Gary M. McCarthy Sr., 46, of Chittenango, was arrested Wednesday on five counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and five counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child, said Trooper Jack Keller, a state police spokesperson.

Police began investigating McCarthy after a transmission of child sex exploitation over the internet was discovered, Keller said.
