Jarvis nets game-high 20 against Ithaca

William Smith College senior Brooke Jarvis scored a game-high 20 points against Ithaca College this evening. However, the visiting Bombers scored a 78-56 Liberty League win in Bristol Gym.

Jarvis was 6-of-13 shooting with a 3-pointer and went 7-of-12 at the free throw line. Junior Molly Walsh sank a pair of 3-pointers on her way to 10 points. First-year Amelia McCulley and Jarvis shared team-high honors with seven rebounds apiece.

Ithaca had four players reach double digits led by graduate student June Dickson’s 17 points. Annabella Yorio, Tori Drevna and Camryn Coffey chipped in 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Junior Anya Watkins pulled down a game-high eight boards for the Bombers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • William Smith went toe-to-toe with Ithaca in the first quarter. The opening frame saw five ties and seven lead changes.
  • The Herons shot 43.8% in the opening 10 minutes, just a bit behind the Bombers (47.6%), who led 22-17 after one.
  • William Smith wasn’t able to keep up the torrid pace in the second quarter as Ithaca went into the break up 43-31.
  • The Bombers (14-3, 8-2) came out of the break on fire, connecting on 60% of their shots, while limiting the home team to just 29.4% shooting, effectively putting the game out of reach.

  • The Herons (4-14, 4-7) will be back on the Bristol Gym court at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, hosting Rochester Institute of Technology (6-11, 5-5). The Tigers suffered a 63-44 loss at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tonight.
