Deborah Ervay, 66, from Newfield was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a two-car crash in the Town of Ithaca. The incident occurred on January 17 at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Elmira Road near Five Mile Drive. Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.
Upon arrival, deputies noted signs of impairment from Ervay. Following further interviews and investigation, Ervay was charged with misdemeanors for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content above 0.08%. She was also charged for following too closely.
Ervay received an appearance ticket for the Town of Ithaca Court to respond to these charges at a later date. She was released from the scene to a sober third party. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about impaired driving and road safety in the area.
