Saratoga County jail guard Michael Millington accused of leaking confidential information to a prisoner, causing “risk of injury to another,” sheriff says

BALLSTON SPA โ€” A Saratoga County jail guard was arrested on Friday for allegedly providing confidential information to a prisoner, which deputies said, “created a substantial risk of injury to another person.”

Michael Millington, 23, of Greenfield was charged with official misconduct and reckless endangerment, both class misdemeanors.

“I will not tolerate any amount of misconduct from any of my employees,” Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said in a statement. “Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard, as they should be. … when an employee crosses the line, I will not hesitate to act.โ€

The nature of the information Millington is accused of sharing was not yet available. He could not be reached for immediate comment and it was unclear if he had a lawyer.

Millington was arraigned in Milton Town Court and released on appearance tickets. He has been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.
