New York school districts ranked 1 to 645, based on latest Algebra I Regents exams

Nearly 150 school districts in New York state saw at least 90% of their students test proficient on Algebra I Regents exams during the 2022-2023 school year, according to state data.

Of the 148 districts with 90% proficiency scores or better, a total of 20 had 100% of their students test proficient.

That includes the Lyncourt Union Free School District in Onondaga County, although just seven students in that district took the Algebra I Regents exam last year. The Lyncourt School includes students up to only eighth grade, so most do not take Regents.

After Lyncourt, the two Onondaga County districts with the highest proficiency levels in Algebra I were Fayetteville-Manlius and Skaneateles. They tied for the No. 43 score statewide with 96% of their students testing proficient.

Jamesville-DeWitt was No. 4 in the county and tied for 110th statewide at 91%. Tully was fifth in the county and 130th statewide at 90%.

The state Education Department released Regents results for the 2022-2023 school year in December.

The Syracuse City School District saw 29% of its students test proficient on the Algebra I Regents exam last year. That was tied for No. 640 out of 645 districts statewide.

Only districts with reported results are included in the database. The state does not report proficiency scores publicly if a districtโ€™s sample size is too small.

Students are considered proficient on Regents exams if they score at level three or above.
