Until this season, no team had won a playoff game after knocking Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills out of the postseason.
In 2019, the Houston Texans knocked Buffalo off in overtime of Wild Card weekend just to fall to the Chiefs 51-31 the following weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs would defeat the Bills in the AFC Championship Game in 2020, but get blown out 31-9 in the Super Bowl. In 2021, the Chiefs would again defeat the Bills. This time, the team fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. And last year, the Bengals would knock the Bills out of the postseason before falling to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs did not want to see this happen to themselves for a third team while extending the Josh Allen playoff curse to five seasons. On Sunday, the team defeated the Baltimore Ravens, the AFC’s No. 1 seed, 17-10 to advance to Super Bowl LVIII. The curse has officially been broken and football fans will once again be watching the Chiefs play in a Super Bowl.
