Syracuse, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has started an investigation and reassigned a deputy after an “altercation” with a person incarcerated at the downtown jail, officials said.
The “altercation” between the deputy and the inmate at the Onondaga County Justice Center took place around 7 p.m. Jan. 21, according to Thomas Newton, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. Two other deputies also were involved in the incident, he said.
