Rebecca Brady thinks back to where Top Seedz started, and it is hard for her to believe the next step on which the Buffalo artisan cracker maker is about to embark.
The company, which won the 43North competition in 2021, is planning to expand into a 34,379-square-foot leased facility at 101 Oak St.
After modest beginnings, baking seeds and roasted crackers in a commissary space inside the former Quaker Bonnet building, Top Seedz will soon make its home in a downtown facility that is seven times larger than its current manufacturing space in Cheektowaga.
Top Seedz is preparing for an early spring move into a 35,000 square-foot-space at 101 Oak St. as part of a $4.5 million project to upgrade and fit a facility that once housed Heritage Centers of Western New York, formerly called Arc Erie County.
โWeโve joked that now weโll need scooters or golf carts to get around our space,โ said Brady, a native New Zealander and former tennis player who created Top Seedz in 2017, working alongside her husband, Will.
โWeโll get our 15,000 steps in by 9 a.m. It just blows my mind,โ she said.
