Man thought he was buying cocaine and meth for $9,000, but agents had swapped in fake drugs, DEA says

Syracuse, N.Y. — Stuart Chambers came to Syracuse this week with $9,000 to buy methamphetamines and cocaine that he intended to sell, according to federal authorities.

Instead, he paid $9,000 for fake drugs, they said.

The drugs were not real, but Chambers now faces a real federal criminal charge of attempted possession with the intent to distribute, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.
