MIDDLETOWN- Fourteen new police officers graduated from the Orange County Police Academy this week and will go on to serve in departments throughout the region.ย The recruits completed more than 700 hours of training to receive their certification as police officers.
Training for police officers is governed by the state Municipal Police Training Council and Orange Countyโs Police Academy is run by the county Police Chiefโs Association and took place over 23 weeks.ย At the ceremony, which was held at the Paramount Theater in Middletown, the newly commissioned celebrated their graduation from the academy in front of family, friends, and local elected officials.
City of Middletown Police Officer Elisha Hodges was named the class valedictorian and was presented with the Chief and Detective (father and son) James T. Giery Memorial Foundation Award for excellence.
