Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the schedule for the 2024 Free Fishing Days in New York, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy freshwater fishing without the need for a fishing license on specific designated days.

The six designated Free Fishing Days include Feb. 17 to 18 (Presidents’ Day Weekend), June 29 to 30, Sept. 28 (National Hunting and Fishing Day), and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day).

Hochul said. “New York is blessed with abundant freshwater lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers, allowing for memorable fishing experiences that increase tourism and benefit the economy.”

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner, Basil Seggos said, “Free Fishing Days are spread out throughout the year to allow anglers to enjoy freshwater fishing in various climates.”
