Cortland man shot by police during standoff charged with attempted murder

Cortland, N.Y. — A Cortland man was charged with first-degree attempted murder after firing at law enforcement during a standoff at his home last week, troopers said.

The man is Steven R. Burda, 58, according to a Monday afternoon news release from the New York State Police. He had not previously been identified publicly.
