The Buffalo Sabres returned from the All-Star and opened a four-game homestand on Tuesday night, but it did not start well as they fell 2-1 to the Dallas Stars.
Buffalo (22-24-4) outshot Dallas 48-31 but only managed to get one past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger, which came off the stick of Tage Thompson in the second period on the power play. Rasmus Dahlin and Jeff Skinner notched assists.
The Sabres went 4-for-5 on the penalty kill and 1-for-4 on the man advantage.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 29 shots, including 19 in the final period, to give Buffalo a chance.
Box Score
The Sabres will welcome the St. Louis Blues to town on Saturday for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
