Two children were recovering in the hospital Wednesday morning after being struck by the driver of a minivan in Bensonhurst, police said.
The children, a 13-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy, were struck by the driver of a Nissan minivan shortly after 8 a.m. near the intersection of 62nd Street and 16th Avenue, Police Department sources said.
The driver behind the wheel of the minivan was traveling eastbound on 62nd Street when the incident occurred, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed.
Responding paramedics brought the two children to Maimonides Medical Center, where their conditions have been listed as stable. The NYPD did not provide detail of their injuries, describing them as minor.
The minivan driver stayed at the scene following the incident, according to cops who issued the 44-year-old a summons.
Over the last five years, the Bensonhurst intersection has been the site of eight separate crashes that left four cyclists and four motorists injured, per data compiled by NYC Crash Mapper.
