The Brooklyn Nets sent small forward Royce O’Neale to the Phoenix Suns for salaries and three second-round draft picks, as first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic shortly before the NBA’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline on Thursday.
It’s a part of a three-team deal that also featured the Memphis Grizzlies sending David Roddy to Phoenix for a pick swap.
The 30-year-old was in his second year with Brooklyn, averaging 7.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per night this season.
With an ability to stockpile some draft capital for his services, Brooklyn made the move shortly after acquiring Thaddeus Young from the Toronto Raptors — a deal also facilitated on Thursday that saw Brooklyn send Spencer Dinwiddie up north for the veteran forward and Dennis Schroder.
O’Neale joins a Suns squad where he’ll provide role minutes off the bench behind the likes of Grayson Allen in a rotation that also includes Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop.
