Woman sentenced for violent assault on former boyfriend

KINGSTON – A Town of Ulster woman who was convicted of felony assault in Ulster County Court last September, was sentenced to seven years in state prison followed by three years of post-release supervision.

The sentence imposed on Wednesday by Judge Bryan Rounds stemmed from a July 22, 2022 incident when Ariel Supple, 29, used a knife to stab and slash her former boyfriend. She then took his sneakers and smeared them through a pool of his blood and thew them out the back door.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and received more than 20 stitches.

Supple had also pled guilty to driving while ability impaired by drugs in an unrelated case.

District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji said Supple has been involved in other intimate partner violence resulting in injuries “and she continues to engage in conduct harmful to herself and others.”

The prosecutor said he hopes she will “attain a level of sobriety and awareness about her behavior and make adjustments to live without threatening others in intimate and non-intimate situations. I hope her incarceration opens her eyes and she receives intensive programs and treatment for the duration.”
