Wayne County’s Department of Social Services is set to take over the administration of the Child Advocacy Center, initially launched in October 2021 in partnership with Family Counseling Services of the Finger Lakes.
The Finger Lakes Times reports the move comes after Social Services Commissioner Lisa Graf and her team identified inefficiencies in the center’s operations, citing a need for streamlined oversight to enhance the facility’s effectiveness in aiding families affected by child abuse. The transition aims to address these concerns and fulfill the center’s potential as a vital resource for the community.
The Wayne County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve the addition of three dedicated DSS positions for the CAC later this month, including a director, assistant director, and a family advocate/education specialist.
