Yates County EMS enhances training with Air Methods Ascend’s online programs

Yates County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), a critical component of the healthcare system in the Finger Lakes region has partnered with Air Methods to incorporate the Ascend online training program into their education regimen. This initiative aims to augment the skills of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and medics who serve a population of nearly 25,000 across Yates County. The county’s EMS framework, which includes 10 fire departments and four ambulance corps, relies on over 400 volunteer firefighters and paramedics to respond to emergencies effectively.

The adoption of Ascend’s online programs underscores Yates County’s commitment to providing its emergency response team with top-notch clinical education, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle critical situations. According to David Dowdle, the Operations Manager of Yates County Emergency Services, Ascend’s flexible online courses will enable their staff to enhance their expertise at their convenience, ultimately improving patient care during emergencies.

Air Methods’ Ascend program offers a suite of online and in-person educational courses, including Critical Care Review and EMS Review, tailored for flight, critical care clinicians, and emergency medical responders. These programs are designed to meet the continuing education needs of EMTs and medics, ensuring they stay abreast of the latest clinical practices and technologies. Dr. Stephanie Queen, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services at Air Methods, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the benefits of providing Yates County EMS personnel with advanced training resources to elevate the quality of patient care.
