Ilion, N.Y. — A 40-year-old man from Herkimer County was arrested Monday after videos showed him abusing his two dogs, troopers said.
State Police charged Dallas B. Eller, of Ilion, after several videos showed Eller using a baseball bat to hit a dog several times, said Trooper Jack Keller, a spokesperson for the State Police. Other videos showed him kicking a dog in the face and throwing another dog to the ground, he said.
Eller was charged with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor. He surrendered both dogs to the Herkimer County Humane Society where they will be evaluated for treatment, Keller said.
Eller was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Columbia court on Feb. 27.
