Staten Island HS boys’ hoops roundup: Sophomore comes up big again as injury-depleted Moore tops SH; SIA ousted

Sophomore point guard Nick DeGrado poured in a career-high 29 points and Moore Catholic rode a big third quarter to a 77-70 CHSAA B division victory over visiting Sacred Heart on Sunday.

The Mavericks, who missed starters Boakai Veikai for nearly the entire second half and Jace McBean for the whole game, bounced back from their SIHSL Tournament quarterfinal loss to St. Peter’s improve to 13-9 overall (8-3 CHSAA). Both Veikai and McBean got injured during the game against the Eagles.
