Democrats nominate Gillibrand for reelection to Senate

NEW YORK- The state Democratic Party has officially designated U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for reelection in November.  Gillibrand has served in the U.S. Senate since January 2009 when she replaced then-Senator Hillary Clinton.

Before her time in the U.S. Senate, Gillibrand was a Congresswoman and represented the Capital Region’s 20th District in the House of Representatives.  Gillibrand has also made an unsuccessful run for President in 2019 that ended in her withdrawing from the race in August of that year.

State Democratic Committee Chairman Jay Jacobs said he was honored to designate Gillibrand as the party’s nominee.  “Since her very first day in office, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been a relentless champion for New York families, working across the aisle to deliver real results for our state,” he said.

“Working across the aisle to deliver common sense solutions for New York families is my top priority and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish,” said Gillibrand.
