A serious accident involving a horse and buggy and a pickup truck in Yates County Tuesday afternoon has resulted in injuries to four juveniles. The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Welker Road and State Route 14A in the town of Barrington. According to authorities, the four juveniles were traveling inside an open buggy when the collision took place.
The preliminary investigation by deputies suggests that the buggy was moving east on Welker Road when the horse became frightened and inadvertently led the buggy into the path of the southbound pickup truck on Route 14A. This sudden and unexpected movement resulted in the collision between the two vehicles.
Following the crash, two of the juveniles were transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention for their injuries, the severity of which has not been disclosed. The remaining two juveniles were treated on the scene by EMS and subsequently released to their guardians. The pickup truck’s occupants were unharmed in the incident. As of now, no charges have been filed, but the investigation by local authorities is ongoing.
