Sahlen Field to go cashless for Bisons games starting this season

Sahlen Field is going cashless for Buffalo Bisons games beginning this season.

By switching to only debit or credit card purchases, the Bisons are following the same path concessions operator Delaware North Cos. took at Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center. Many other venues also are transitioning to cashless for in-game purchases.

Concessions, merchandise, vending and restaurant purchases all must be completed with a credit or debit card or by digital payment such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. Fans can still use cash at the Sahlen Field Box Office to buy tickets.

Bisons officials say this is part of an effort to โ€œincrease overall ballpark convenience and to further streamline and enhance fan experiences throughout the ballpark.โ€

This is a trend that was sped up by the pandemic, when it became unsanitary and unsafe to exchange cash. Concessionaires like Delaware North also have found that going cashless helps speed up the purchasing process and alleviate long lines.

Rich Entertainment Group runs the food and beverage program at Sahlen Field.

The Bisons will be adding technology around the ballpark to make the transition smoother. The team has added 30% more payment devices to assist with the efficiency of these cashless purchases.

The Sahlen Field Box Office will still accept cash, as well as credit card payments, for all ticket purchases, including single-game tickets and Bisons ticket package options.

Also, the Bisonsโ€™ concession dollars for season ticket holders will continue to be used and can be handed in at concession stands for food and beverage purchases. Additionally, all existing Bisons gift cards are still valid and can be used throughout the ballpark.
