Following a few weeks of respite, a lake-effect snowstorm is back in the forecast, promising a couple inches of snowfall in the Western New York area.ย
The National Weather Service office in Buffalo issued a winter weather advisory from 10 p.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Sunday in northern Erie, Niagara and Genesee counties due to the incoming lake-effect snow.
According to the weather service, although the snow bands will be narrow, it will lead to around 3 to 6 inches of accumulation, especially in areas that receive persistent snowfall.
Wind gusts as high as 45 mph might create blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility.ย
Temperatures will range in the low 20s and 30s through the weekend. Snow bands off Lake Erie will weaken Sunday afternoon and off Lake Ontario in the evening.ย
