Three Southern Tier water projects to get $8.7 million in grants and financing

More than $8.7 million in state grants and short-term financing is coming for three water infrastructure projects in the Southern Tier, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.

The Village of Franklinville in Cattaraugus County will receive a $2,850,000 Water Infrastructure Improvement (WIIA) grant and $1,191,800 in short-term market-rate financing to improve the community’s north and south wellhouses and replace about 30,000 feet of water mains.

In Allegany County, the Town of Caneadea will receive a $430,000 WIIA grant to plan, design and install a disinfection system at the town’s wastewater treatment plant.

Also in Allegany County, the Town of Hume will receive an $816,000 WIIA grant, along with $2,448,000 short-term interest-free loans and $1 million in short-term market-rate financing to plan, design and build a pump station and force main.
