Syracuse, N.Y. — A vacant house on the North Side of Syracuse caught fire Wednesday morning, firefighters said.
At 6:21 a.m. firefighters arrived at 615 Park St to find smoke billowing out of the back windows, said District Chief Matthew Craner, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.
The firefighters removed boards from the home to enter and search for people, Craner said. Inside firefighters fought blinding smoke and found the heart of the fire on the second floor, he said.
No one was inside at the time of the fire, he said. No one was injured, he said.
Most of the fire was extinguished in 10 minutes and the fire was declared completely out in 20 minutes, he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Craner said.
