Fire breaks out on 20th floor of Crowne Plaza; Syracuse hotel evacuated

Syracuse, N.Y. — A fire on the top floor of the Crowne Plaza led to an evacuation of the Syracuse hotel Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the hotel at 701 E. Genesee St. at around 9 p.m. after a smoke detector activation, said Fire Chief Michael Monds.
