In a tragic turn of events in Steuben County, an assault has led to a murder charge after the victim succumbed to her injuries.
New York State Police report that the incident occurred in the town of Erwin, with the victim passing away on February 21 at Robert Packer Hospital. Following this, Marvin was charged with second-degree murder and processed accordingly.
The assault took place on February 20, 2024, with law enforcement and emergency services responding to a distress call from a residence in Erwin. The 54-year-old victim was found critically injured and was airlifted to the hospital, where she later died. John N. Marvin II, age 59, of Painted Post, NY, has been arrested in connection with the assault, facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault before the charge was upgraded.
This incident has prompted a continued investigation by the New York State Police, supported by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, among others.
