Police arrested a Syracuse man in Penn Yan for criminal impersonation after investigating a complaint in the village.
On Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. police arrested Kawonjamin Felton, 42, after he was found hiding in a closet within the residence.
Police had been called there for a welfare check complaint.
Officers found a corrections ID card in his pocket, which did not match him. He provided law enforcement with a false name to avoid arrest due to an outstanding warrant.
He was turned over to parole in Syracuse and will answer the charges at a later date.
