STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Because Women’s History Month is commemorated every March as a way to acknowledge the contributions women have made to society and to celebrate the progress made toward women’s rights, each year members of Soroptimist International of Staten Island host its annual Ruby Awards Luncheon in keeping with the worldwide tradition.
This year the event is set for Sunday, March 10, at the Historic Old Bermuda Inn at noon as a way to laud seven women who have had a positive impact on the community of Staten Island.
Congratulatory greetings then are in order for: Carol Bullock, Doreen Cugno, Loretta Dragon, Amy E. Rice, Luanne Sorrentino, Kelly Vilar and junior honoree Stella Vrapi — who will all be heralded at the Rossville banquet venue on that momentous afternoon.
Chairing the annual Ruby Awards is longstanding Soroptimist member Angie DePompo-Seff.
Proceeds generated from the Ruby Awards support Soroptimist International of Staten Island’s mission to empower women and girls, ensure access to resources and opportunities to reach their full potential, and help them to achieve and live their dreams.
