This thing of ours

With some exceptions – and you know who you are – television reporters rarely come to Buffalo and end up staying for their entire careers.

So it was not a huge surprise to hear that WIVB-TV reporter Tara Lynch was following that trend by moving on to a bigger market and taking a job in Baltimore.

But it did raise one potential question.

Lynch’s passion for the the Buffalo Bills has been evident on social media and it’s in her blood: She is a Buffalo native – who grew up in Connecticut – and her grandfather, Denny Lynch, was a former director of public and community relations for the Buffalo Bills.

And now she is headed to Baltimore, the home of the Ravens.

Does that mean she will leave behind the red and blue for the lure of purple, to eschew love of Josh Allen in favor of Lamar Jackson fandom?

To brutally paraphrase a great Baltimore writer who knew a thing or two about Ravens … Quoth the reporter, nevermore.

“I am a Bills fan for life!” she said in response to the question. “I was born into being a Bills fan with my grandfather and my mom working for the team and I’ll always be a Bills fan.”

Too sexy for this ticket

Next time you get pulled over for speeding on the Thruway, take note of the threads adorning the state trooper writing you a ticket.

A recent national survey about “America’s Sexiest State Police Uniforms” landed the New York State Police at No. 23, just ahead of Massachusetts and just behind Georgia.

“Crisp shirts in a smoke gray, with matching trousers and a royal purple tie,” is how the troopers’ uniforms were described in a news release announcing the survey results. “It’s a look that commands respect, weaving together the threads of the state’s rich history to ensure that New York remains a beacon of safety, justice and unparalleled style.”

If that doesn’t sound like it should be the state motto …
