A man was fatally shot at the East 182nd Street and Grand Concourse subway station in Fordham Heights early Friday morning, according to the NYPD.
Police from the 46th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man shot at the East 182nd Street and Grand Concourse Subway Station at approximately 5 a.m. on Feb. 23. Upon their arrival, officers found a 45-year-old man unconscious with a gunshot wound to his torso. A police spokesperson could not confirm where exactly the victim was shot. EMS arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, police said.

โI am not shocked that this happened, this stop is absolute chaos. I canโt get to work easily now. Someone is always dying here,โ commuter Sheryl James told the Bronx Times.
Further investigation determined that the man was shot on board a southbound D train that was approaching the station, according to the NYPD. A police spokesperson could not confirm where the victimโs body was found.
Police indicated they are searching for at least three suspects who were wearing all black, but could not offer any leads regarding a motive at this time, according to the NYPD. The investigation remains ongoing.
As a result of the shooting, the MTA announced that D trains would bypass the station in both directions while the NYPD conducts their investigation. Commuters are advised to use nearby Bx1 or Bx2 buses.
The fatal shooting comes after a Feb. 12 shooting at the Mount Eden Avenue station following an altercation aboard a No. 4 train left one person dead and five others wounded, including two teenagers and a senior citizen.
