Motorists may encounter dense fog through this afternoon in Erie County.
The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for Erie County until 4 p.m. today. The fog advisory for Niagara, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties expired.
Visibility could be as low as one-quarter mile at times in the dense fog, according to the weather service.
“If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you,” the weather service said.
The fog is extending to the nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Ripley to Buffalo.
