When you just can’t wait for the opening pitch of the next game, Mets fans now have a new place to turn!
Beginning on Feb. 24, the team will launch their inaugural podcast “Meet at the Apple” — featuring a new look inside the franchise that outsiders have only ever dreamt of, including special interviews with players, coaches and more.
“Meet at the Apple is not your average baseball podcast and is very different than anything we’ve ever done at the Mets before,” said Mets marketing head Andy Goldberg. “This is a twice-weekly, behind-the-scenes look for our fans, providing them unrivaled access to our players, coaches and front office staff.”
The inaugural episode, which will be available on all major podcast platforms, is set to feature a wide-ranging discussion between Mets broadcaster Howie Rose and team owner Steve Cohen — where the billionaire will break down his 2020 purchase of the franchise, along with providing fans with his outlook on the state of the Amazins.
“This podcast is meant to stretch far beyond the stats and scores and take a deeper cultural look at what the Mets mean to our fans, the community of Queens and more,” said Goldberg.
Hosted by beloved producer Vito Calise, the podcast will air twice each week, and have regularly scheduled appearances of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, along with the most notable players in the lineup, Goldberg said.
Fans can also expect to hear some classic New York sport talk radio-style commentary from lifelong fans (for better or worse), along with other tidbits of lesser-known information about the organization and its Citi Field home.
“It’s all about the experience of being a Mets fan,” said Calise. “Podcast listeners will not only learn about baseball updates, but it goes deeper, exploring the players’ and coaches’ opinions on just about everything…
